Newsletter of the Society for Technical Communication, San Francisco Chapter April/May 2010 |
Dear Readers,
In addition to the regular features, this edition's items include a piece from Jack Molisani, who presented at the March meeting. He's offering some thoughts on Ginsu knives and our careers in technical communication. It's not a pair of topics that I ever expected to see. There's also a review of a book that presents ideas related to managing technical writers; portions sound like a must-read for the managed writer, in addition to the manager. The Past President's thoughts might provoke some of your own thoughts. I look forward to some of you sharing those thoughts in a letter or three TO the editor.
April's events include Earth Day. We technical communicators make a difference every time we publish online instead of on paper or recycle the paper that we do use, but we have another opportunity every month to make a positive impact on the earth. We can choose how we get to the STC-SF meeting. We can carpool or use mass transit, either BART or MUNI, depending on where we live and work. There's a double benefit when we reduce stress by not having to deal with traffic gridlock, we also improve our health. Wow, a chance to be kind to both the earth and our bodies--all while we learn and network! What's not great about the STC-SF meetings?
I'll see you soon at a meeting.
