Newsletter of the Society for Technical Communication, San Francisco Chapter August/September 2009 |
Hello everyone,
In this article I will talk about the upcoming elections and our programming for the rest of the year.
Over one year has passed since the last election for your STC San Francisco chapter officers. Instead of holding our elections in May, we will now hold them in early September. The elected leaders will assume their responsibilities at the beginning of the new year. This change was adopted to align our election cycle with that of STC headquarters.
It is now time to think about the slate for our leadership committee next year. Please consider running for an office. You might be interested in becoming an elected chapter officer. Talk to any member of the chapter leadership to learn more about the different roles that are available. Then, take some time to assess the skills you would like to use, or develop, in one of these roles.
If you are unsure about the actual responsibilities of the roles in the leadership committee, please contact the person who currently holds the position in which you are interested. You can find this list of current officer names and e-mail hyperlinks at the following URL:

Thank you for your interest and involvement in our chapter. You help keep our chapter invigorated with your enthusiasm.
Our chapter has a great lineup of speakers scheduled for the rest of this year. In August, Judith Herr will present "Grant and Proposal Writing 101." In September, Joy Montgomery will present "Hand It to Them on a Platter: 7 Steps to a Successful Resume." In October, Jeff Boudier and Fabrice Talbot will present "Documentation Review: Get It Done!" In November, Megan Leney will present "Today's Agile Documentation," based on her STC Web seminar. Finally, we will host our holiday party in December.
I hope to see you at our upcoming meetings.
Sincerely,
Gilbert Gonzalez
