Newsletter of the Society for Technical Communication, San Francisco Chapter October/November 2007 |
Hello everyone. Autumn is upon us. This means that the Northern California Technical Communication Competition has begun. E-mail messages containing the Call for Judges and the Call for Entries have already been sent to each of you. You can also view the Call for Judges online at the following URL:
www.stc-sf.org/nctcc_competition_judges.htm
Please consider volunteering to become a judge in this competition. Although the first judge training has occurred, judges with Mac computers are still needed.
You will learn judging guidelines, have the opportunity to apply these guidelines to the entries you judge, and in the process possibly even enhance your own writing ability. I have been a judge in three competitions over the years, and my skill set has benefited from this involvement.
I hope you have selected the work of which you are most proud and have submitted it to the competition for an opportunity to receive the feedback and recognition you deserve. The best entries will be forwarded to the international competition in January.
By the way, the entry fee for the competition helps to fund the Gordon Memorial Scholarship fund. This is truly a win-win situation.
Thank you, and good luck!
