Newsletter of the Society for Technical Communication, San Francisco Chapter August/September 2007 |
Hello San Francisco Chapter STC members. In July, the newly elected officers take office. The new officers are Gilbert Gonzalez, President; Marc Smircich, Treasurer; and Leah Scampoli, Secretary.
I want to say "Thank you" to the outgoing leadership team members and acknowledge their contributions during the past year. I especially want to thank Tim Bombosch both for his work as chapter President and for his support of my candidacy for that office. A special "Thank you" also goes to Julia Cope for her work as Vice President, Marc Smircich for his work as chapter Secretary, Larry Pastori for his work as Membership Manager, Susan Becker for her work as Web Site Manager, Leah Scampoli for her work as Hospitality Manager, and Patricia Kalman for her work as Education Manager.
I am excited about our chapter's opportunities for the coming year. During the next couple of months, the leadership committee will outline a plan of action for our term. Our plans will encompass everything from future chapter meeting topics to participating in a technical communication competition in cooperation with other Northern California chapters. Please stay tuned for chapter announcements delivered either by e-mail or in the chapter newsletter.
I also want to point out that our chapter can only successfully operate with the volunteer support of its members. Please use your chapter membership as an opportunity to get involved in chapter activities. Your involvement in these activities will enable you to use this chapter as a safe and supportive environment within which you can further develop your professional skills.
