STC 2005 Elections |
President Chapter Nominee: Julia Cope
This year, I would like to continue in the tradition of former presidents
by working with our leadership volunteers to make membership in our
chapter a rewarding and valued experience. To achieve this goal, I
would like to accomplish two main objectives as president of the San
Francisco Chapter of the STC:
- Build interest in our chapter by supporting our monthly programs,
educational opportunities, and STC Northern California chapters’ initiatives
and activities
- Encourage volunteers to assume chapter roles and responsibilities
that can help them develop strong networks and build personal leadership
skills
Julia is a Communications Manager for Wells Fargo's Private Client
Services (PCS) in San Francisco. As part of the Internal Communications
team, she currently manages the PCS Intranet, fulfilling the duties
of project manager, editor, information architect, and content contributor
for an audience of 6,000+ financial services and support personnel.
This past year, Julia served as the San Francisco Chapter’s
vice president and webmaster.
Vice President
Chapter Nominee: Tim Bombosch
Tim's hopes as the Vice President are to:
- Support Julia as President and David as Program Manager
- Aid the chapter's development in light of changes to the STC
- Explore developing educational events for members
- Continue in a leadership role as the Northern California chapters
develop new and creative ways of working together
Tim is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Senior
Technical Writer for Sygate Technologies, where he authors online
help for network security software. Currently he serves as the program
manager for the San Francisco Chapter of the STC. He also serves
as a project management consultant to the Touchstone Technical Communication
Competition and STC NorCal. Tim has also volunteered to be the incoming
chapter webmaster.
Secretary
Chapter Nominee: Patrick Lufkin
Patrick Lufkin is a self-employed technical communicator who does
business as Lufkin & Associates. He has been involved with the
STC since 1990. He is a past-president and newsletter editor of the
San Francisco Chapter. He has often judged, supervised, and trained
judges for Touchstone, the Northern California Technical Communication
Competition. He has presented at STC regional conferences, helped
with the organization of the NorCal leadership days, and helped establish
the chapter's scholarship for San Francisco State University students,
and is current co-chair of the Kenneth Gordon Memorial Scholarship.
He has won several awards in Touchstone and a Distinguished Chapter
Service Award, and is a frequent contributor to STC chapter newsletters.
Treasurer
The nominating committee is currently seeking candidates for the
office of treasurer. Until we elect a new treasure, Marc Smircich,
our current treasurer, has agreed to continue to serve in this
position. If you would like to volunteer for this position or to
nominate another
member of the chapter, please contact nominations@stc-sf.org.
See Job Descriptions.
Office terms begin July 1, 2005 and end on June 30, 2006. The four
officers, and past president, are responsible for guiding the ship
of state as the San Francisco STC charts its way through
the 2005-2006 year.
During their terms, elected officers are expected to attend monthly
chapter meetings. They are also expected
to participate in the bi-monthly leadership meetings.
